Meditations: My Decorative Inspirations

As an undergraduate art student at Columbia University in the 1990's, the energy in terms of the color in this wild world was always something I was drawn to. I still remember registering for a graduate level Decorative Arts, Art History class, and diving into the noted works of Gaugin [my favorite painter], Gerard Rigot [French visual artist and furniture designer]. A lot of what I observed in terms of works, always directed me to reference African artifacts and creative genres from Ghana. Mali and South Africa [more on this, in another post].

Coming home. It took my husband and I about 4 years to build and decorate our own home here in Accra, and I certainly relished in the open canvas it allowed. There is so much we can do to evolve, in our homes, by what you choose to - live with.

When writing this post, I occurred to me the immense digital scrapebook. Hundreds of jpgs of objects I have collected in my own home and images found online. I look forward to sharing more with you!
